Sure are nice folks! Just returned from a two month visit, all on the Big Island except for a four day trip to Molokai. Gotta say the people were the nicest we've met on any of our travels. We had a great time, did lots of exploring, ate good food, took tons of pictures, bought some neat things from local artists and made many, many memories.

The agree that people on the Big Island are friendly. That is the main reason I am staying put.

The main reason for going was to visit Kalapapa National Historical Site (leper colony). Three ways to get there, hike down, ride mules and fly. We chose to ride mules down, approximately 2.5 miles and 26 switchbacks, pretty exciting and sometimes a little scary, but glad we did it. It's an all day experience.
Two days we went to some really nice beaches and just hung out at the pool.
Second best thing we did was the drive to Halawa Valley. The road to Hana on Maui is nothing compared to this drive. The valley is beautiful and we did some hiking there.
Not much hiking on Molokai, but we were aware of that. I plan to spend a bit more time on Molokai next trip. Less than 8000 people and no traffic lights, my kind of place!
