Anyone know any details? We've been hearing lots of rumors.

Lambert, your husband is a realtor in Ka'u; has he heard anything?

The golf course is in escrow. Property values have sunk around here so it can only improve things.

How's the surrounding development project going? Is it still going? I attended the meetings when I was still living on the island up until late last year. The local protests were intense.

Lambert, I had heard that the course was in escrow, just no details about the potential purchaser. Is this all being kept a secret until escrow closes?

Sorcerer, I think the SeaMountain negotiations are slowly continuing. I've heard that some of the people whose property was included in the potential sale to Ka'u Preservation weren't at all happy about that. And I've heard that the Mayor is trying to get the three sides talking -- developer, Ka'u Preservation and OKK. Hard to know exactly what's happening since I'm still on the mainland.

My husband is the agent who sold the golf course, so I really can't discuss it. That is his request and the request of the buyer. But, I can tell you that the buyer is a huge golfer who owns several properties in DH. He has pure, honorable intentions toward the people of Ka'u. There is a gentleman, who tried and failed to buy the golf course himself, who is trying to stir trouble over the purchase. He does not have honorable intentions.

Thanks, Lambert! All we hear over here on the mainland are rumors. Glad to know that the buyer has good intentions. I'm sure that it's hard to hear stuff flying around and not be able to say anything.

Default curious

I found the course of Discovery Harbour Golf by way of website. Is there really such a place. Been to Big Island and have played every course there (almost) never heard of this one until recently
We will be in that part of Island in Dec.
Is there accomodations to stay somewhere there as we will be coming from Hilo after staying there for about 6 days.
Thanksalice

Alice, the course is closed to the public and currently maintained by the HOA. A sale is pending and we hope that the new buyer will put some money into it. We have a vacation rental in Discovery Harbour; check out Vacation Rentals by Owner/#54441.

There is a golf course, too, at Punalu'u and there are condos there to rent. Yeah, they are the competition, but wanted to share the information with you.
