In all years, in the playoffs, in the 4th quarter or overtime, 1:00 or less left in quarter, shot to tie or take lead, sorted by descending Field Goals:

Lebron: 13/26 (50%) LeBron James Shot Finder | Basketball-Reference.com
Kobe: 10/37 (27%) Kobe Bryant Shot Finder | Basketball-Reference.com

Elimination games:

Kobe: 21.6 ppg, 41.7 FG%
Lebron: 31.9 ppg 46.7 FG%

Can someone explain where this Kobe= clutch, cold-blooded assassin myth comes from?

Cause Kobe would take the shot and not pass the ball in the clutch.

With results not quite as stellar as his reputation would suggest, judging by the percentages displayed above.

Yes, that was well documented in a thread we had last year showing how Kobe shot the Lakers right out of the playoffs in the 4th quarter vs. OKC.

And yet, from 2006 to present, Kobe has attempted 21 such shots, while Lebron has attempted 26.

Looking at Kobe's percentage, he probably should have passed the ball in the clutch more often.

Right now I take Kobe, not based on where they are in their career, but based on body of work.

Part of it you have to go by the eyeball test. What you see in the games doesnt always match up with stats. For years Garnett got the nod over Dirk as a player, but I never saw it that way. I always saw Garnett nutt up at the end of games, miss free throws, and defer to other team mates when it was hard core crunch time. It wasnt till he went to Boston that he felt more free because he had serious back up.
Thats bascially what I think of Lebron. He wants to be the man, but has to convince himself he is. Kobe knows he's the man and acts accordingly.

That's is such crap, mentioning him with Jordan. Jordan played against Magic, Bird, Dream, Ewing, Malone, Barkley, Shaq. Celtic teams, Laker teams, Detroit, btw the gutless one Derrick Rose couldn't carry Isiah Thomas's jock. Jordan played when big men played big, not this European crap. That's why I like Duncan, he is now considered old school.

The only way Kobe and Jordan should be mentioned together is gunning the rock and one on one, because that would have been an awesome game, Jordan and Kobe are probably the two best one on one players ever, other than that, there is no comparison.

Imagine Pippen covering Lebron, that would be a great matchup.
