I would like to add that Bmores problems existed way before Sheila Dixon and her current issues. Obviously things like the City granting tax breaks which forces residents to shoulder the taxes until the "break" ends..dates back to the days of the Charles Center and Inner Harbor. ONe could argue that those developments would have never have taken place without the "break" as an incentive OR that the politicos of that era traded their "aye" vote for some other perk.. known or unknown. The 'Baltimore City Foundation' where likely hundreds of thousands of dollars have been funneled to benefit City projects is now being asked to open its books..it would not surprise me if THE SUN uncovers some juicy tid bits from years past... Certainly the pension fund was a slippery slope of neglect for several decades of underfunding and the poverty, education, and crime issue dates back to the de-industrialization of the city that left behind a whole segment of the city's populations that is still reeling from the loss of jobs, undereducated, and violence fueled by drugs trade and useage have filled the void.

My point is the Shelia Dixon situation I think is like someone turning on a light in the closet and watching the roaches run...she may not be the biggest, the baddest, or the worst roach in the colony.. she was just the one that got caught this time before slipping under the baseboard. (Dislaimer: I dont think Shelia is a "roach" just used the analogy for dramatic effect to denote the corruption in general ) I think that Bmore residents should use this as a wake up call and get more active and pay attention to what goes on in our city. The bigger question is where is the Willie Don's hanky...and how do we turn it around.
