Interesting blog post about safe neighborhoods in Baltimore. Locust Point turns out to be the safest large neighborhood according to data analysis.

The Real Estate Wonk: Report: Locust Point is safest large neighborhood in Baltimore - Baltimore homes, apartments, real estate: Buying, selling, renting and housing news from reporter Jamie Smith Hopkins - baltimoresun.com

I found this excerpt quite relevant to this forum, since discussion of whether Baltimore deserves its reputation for crime seems to be the omnipresent topic here:

Surprisingly, many of the neighborhoods [Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed] discovered are substantially safer than neighborhoods in the suburbs. Some of these same cities are also home to the most dangerous neighborhoods in America, underscoring the importance of looking at neighborhoods, and not passing judgment on entire cities. For safety, it really is all about your location, not just your city or your zip code.

The northern suburbs of Baltimore are generally safe and clean. I would stay the hell away from the East Baltimore area...that has some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the country.
