Vote for what?

American Airlines/USAir have not Merged.

Continental Took over United (out of bankruptcy If recall correctly) and then took the United Name.

Phhtt...none of the above.

USAir...in the mid 90's was pretty decent even if in terrible financcial shape.

Continental under Gordon Bethune was nothing BUT a Class Act. Sorry to see them gone.

Western Pacific with their wildly painted LogoJets was a fun airline.

Reno Air was too. Too bad they were really a reincarnation of Midway and couldn't figure out who they were or wanted to be. Consequently never made any money and had to sell out to American or shut down.

PSA was the original Southwest. Had they stuck with 737's instead of 727's and MD-80's and not panicked and sold out to USAir because of short term circumstances, they might still be here today and Southwest would be half the size they are now.

National (the one flying 757's out of Las Vegas) was also one I thought was a great airline. Their idea may have looked great on paper but played out horribly in the real world: flying 757's in and out of one of the least profitable markets in the world.

What are we voting for? Not that it matters. One of these companies is as bad as the other. For customers, employees, and except for the short-term, as a stock to own.

American and US are planning on merging you are correct but right now its not for sure. The Dept of Justice is trying to stop the merger. And after seeing how well AA is doing out of BK I hope the merger is stopped I don't want US Airways culture at AA.

Why have Great Lakes airlines? But you are missing other larger regional airlines and airlines like Virgin America, Alaska, Hawaiian, Spirit.....
