Can I use my redemption flights to try and get on any other earlier flights from X, Y, or Z (non of them being partners with A) and pay whatever costs are associated with doing so? Is it possible if I show up the morning of the scheduled flight and ask around the different airlines ?
I rather not cancel my existing seats and get reissued a brand new one. I also don't want to pay fees that could possibly exceed new flight tickets as well.

It would be a lot easier if you just used the airline names. If you have a reward seat, the options depend ENTIRELY on who issued them, as each airline has different rules.
If you have seats on a partner flight, and there is no further awards availability, your options are limited to buying a seat, if available.
You cannot redeem awards on non-partner airlines, so your further option is to buy any seat available. Not entirely sure why you'd buy a seat when you're flying for free, but that isn't part of the equation.
As far as refund/redemption of points, again, the answers are airline specific and your best bet is to speak to the airline directly.
I'd point out that if you give up your already booked reward seats, and then change your mind again, your chances of getting them back are approximately 0.0
