hmm for me the ford escape because it holds it's resale value better than the Hyundai Tucson and it's been around a while so it had most of the bugs and kinks worked out of it plus i like the edge styling of the ford the hyundai looks more like a cute ute IMO
not a big fan of the small ute, but the Hyundai catches my eye because it does seem "tall car" and not "small truck." so that is apples and oranges and largely subjective. i don't like the truckish look of the Escape. it looks like a mini Explorer, circa 1995. for my taste, at least
if looks don't count, it would come down to ride comfort for me. if utility comes first, that. but as said, i tend to look at these more as cars or wagons. for me the Hyundai just appears much more modern. but it is a tall car sort of thing, sure
all other things being equal i take the Hyundai because of its styling. i may get one after i'm done with my elantra. but only because i see it as the same as the Elantra. just BIG
other then the utility and powerplants, it really is apples and oranges. Hyundai has the warranty if buying new, and should have the resale value to match the Escape, at least. the Escape is an old style Ford, the Tuscon is not. the next Escape, who knows?
I like the look of the new tuscon. I just wonder if the interior is wider than the last model. I own a 2001 escape with 75k miles. It has a v6 with an automatic tranny. I love the truck. It is great on gas, is fast, and has plenty of room inside for me, my wife and all of my car detailing equipment.
also, since thinking Tuscon, why not Kia Sorento? i know, i know, Kia. i own a Hyundai but wouldn't a Spectra. But Forte, sure. Forte Coupe, even better
but the Sorento is a Tuscon, and has style the Escape doesn't without what some would say is "too much" from the Tuscon
i know depreciation is bad but a great deal can probably be had. dealer service, who knows? and a smaller network. but imo it looks very nice and would be a blend of these two vehicles. and it has a big warranty. gotta at least look imo. nice slideshows when you scroll down
Actually the Sorrento is in the same class as the Hyundai Veracruz. The Kia Sportage is in the same class as the Tuscon and out of the two trucks, I would get the Sportage. The reason being is that my wife and I owned a 2006 and loved it. My friend has a 2007 and she loves hers and my mother in law has a 2006 and she loves hers also. We no longer have the Kia, but both of our friends have over 50k miles and have not had any problems with them. My mother in laws is a 4 cyl with front wheel drive and our friends is a v6 with 4 wheel drive
