here how it goes dodge has the best engine being the cummins chevy has the allison transmission and ford has the best fit and finish it really comes down to what want you like the best. all three heavy duty trucks are pretty even personally I like the super duty but would get a dodge only with a manual tranny just for the cummins.

Ford body/chassis, Cummins motor, Allison trans = Perfect truck.

I'd get a Dmax if I had to pick though. My buddy had one and it was very nice. Got to drive it many times.

The cummins engine is definitely the best. Unfortunately, it is in a Dodge chassis. You all know what I think about Chrysler products, so we will leave it at that.

Well I'm sure they are ALL very good , me personally would prefer the Cummins though.

It all depends on what you want to do with it. If I were towing a lot, I'd probably take the Cummins with a 6spd. manual. If I were just using it as a daily driver then I would take the Duramax all day long. The Duramax is the fastest diesel truck I've ever driven, stock Fords and Dodges can't touch them.

Cummins makes a killer diesel. Unfortunately, you have to buy a Dodge to get it, and it stinks, is ridiculously noisy, and unpleasant to drive.

Don't like Fords.

Duramax is the best all-around. Quiet, Allison transmission, fast, and can do Lethal Weapon 2 all day long.

The Duramax is nice, but the Allison trannies have had problems (Ive seen them firsthand). Plus its a shame that the engine is stuck in one of the ugliest trucks ever made (current body).

The Powerstroke 7.3L was stellar, even with hiccups. Ford makes the best truck, hands down.

The Cummins is sweet, too, but as others have said, its a shame its stuck in a Dodge chassis. My buddy has the Cummins in his 04, mated to a manual trans. He has done everything you can think of to that truck--turbo upgrade, computer work, huge injectors, propane injection, etc, etc. It makes crazy power (smokes the tires from a 2nd gear start), but the chassis just doesnt seem up to task.

I can honestly say I've never seen any problems out of an Allison tranny mated to a stock Duramax. If you go modding the engine to make say 70+ extra HP than sure limp mode is probably on it's way.

The 7.3 was a stout motor BUT wasn't exactly making impressive power numbers. Not to mention it is about the most expensive engine when it comes to turning up the juice. $4000 sunk into a powerstroke won't make it near as beefy as $1500 sunk into a Cummins.

what type of power are they geting out of the 6.4 twin turbo power strokes? I think stock for stock ford has the most horsepower while chevy has the most torque and dodge is in the middle
