I am asking since I am going to buy a new car while in US and I want to know the technical differences from the same model sold in Europe. Whether should I sell it here or transfer to Europe on my way back. Lower price, VAT & re-certification costs will still make it a good deal.

I know about emission, lights, bumpers and similar minor stuff. But I was told by several people that some cars are very different inside - different suspension, different chassis technology etc. I found this weird since it's not very cost effective to build 2 almost different cars.

Let say BMW 3, Nissan Murano or Mazda 6. Are the "intestines" at least remotely similar?

Seems like no matter what car I get into in Europe its always 1/3 of the size of the counterpart in the U.S.

Even in supposed "full-size" cars you find your knees rubbing on the dash.

Thumbs down!

Be smart get a muscle car in the states take it to where ever you are going and sell it for a huge chunk. Dont bother trying to bring a car back that you buy over there. You are looking at having to change the glass, doors, as well as all the other stuff you mentioned. Dont forget you will need to get it inspected and bonded. That was about 3,000 euros last time I looked into it.

Its just not worth it.

Well, problem with muscle car is huge insurance based on engine displacement + double price for fuel + no maintenance centers.
Also it's useless in winter. As a toy car maybe...

But my question is different, whether let say BMW 3 sold in US is the same BMW 3 sold in Germany (not talking about lights or similar minor stuff)

I know that the Honda Accord is the same chassis in Europe and US, but has a bigger Bodyshell in US.

afaik the BMW 3, Nissan Murano and Mazda 6 are exactly the same in every way.

Mostly parts issues. Engines built to different specs. Also cars designed for US run on a lower Octane than its EU counterpart.
