The vehicle in the original post is not a Smart. That picture has been widely circulated and dissected many times. Many vehicles in that situation would suffer the same fate.

BTW - I am not defending the Smart. I think it is a fad car and grossly overhyped. For most people a Honda Fit is a much better choice.
