We went looking for a vette today, didn't really find anything in my price range or model(want a 1997-2004)...went up to the Jaguar dealer to take a look, saw a BMW that was nice enough so stopped and took a look.

Salesman came out, talked a little and mentioned I wanted a vette,he siad we just had one traded in,it is still being cleaned up.

1998 C5,white(not my favorite color),black leather interior,six speed,glass roof,34,000 miles and later model wheels.

Took it for a long test drive,it has a lot of road noise but drives like a new car really.

Asking $21990....going back in the morning to see what can be done.

I know a guy who has a 64 vette, he bought it new and wrecked it 2 years later, he bought the parts (all cosmetic) to repair it and never has, I tried hard as I could to get him to sell it to me but he never would, it just sits there on jacks under a cover, what a waste of a fun car.

I got another 52 hp VW Rabbit

1 mpg per HP

I had all the muscle cars, motorcycles (and other thrills), then on my 18th b-day I got 'elder care' for the next 32 yrs...

now... I'm just too tired for 'mid-life'

The C5 'vette can be a damn good car, if you will refrain from driving it like you stole it, remarkably good MPG for what's at least a borderline supercar. For the most part, you pay for gas, tires, and oil, if you take care of the car cosmetically and don't hit anything with it, you shouldn't lose any money if/when you want to sell on.

White with a black interior will grow on you. White exterior is very practical down south there where the sun is hot. The look is less OTT than the more traditionally bad-boy choices of red or black.

Depending on condition, that price may already be OK. Depending on what your truck is, and it's condition, it may not have much market value with gas prices as they are. Might make more sense to keep your truck anyway, you can't do much hauling with a 'vette.

But you know your truck and you are looking at the 'vette with your own eyes, so you know better what to do (or not do).

Mid life crisis only comes around once you know....

Well....I think our whole future is going to be one big midlife crisis...

We are selling everything here and in NC and buying a small cattle ranch if it all works out.Even plan to take the MIL along with us.

See how the whole vette thing makes no sense????

Mid-life crisis and Corvettes go hand in hand. In fact, I think Chevy should offer a Chevy Corvette, MLC Edition. Seriously.

Why not look at a Viper instead? If you buy a Vette, youll just join the ranks with the other 92 million gray-hairs who own them, no thanks to mid-life crises. lol Be different. Have fun. Look around.

Corvettes are awesome cars for the money. Unfortunately, since they are so affordable, it seems like every third person has one.

There are TONs of used Vettes out there. Hold out for the exact color/options that you want.
