The economic ignorance on display throughout this thread has given me a headache.

The big oil companies own the us govt.It really sucks that they are gouging us & the truckers. We really have no choice but to pay the high fuel costs.I have cut down on driving my car cause i get horrible city mpg.Due to the high cost of gas no one is winning but the awful, corrupt, horrid oil companies.

I noticed here the day of the strike, at our local station, diesel was $4.29 per gallon. The next morning it was $3.99. Dropped .30 cents in one day... that just blows my mind.

I wonder if that was because of the effect of the strike? Hope so.

Let's all go on a gas strike for a YEAR! If one day dropped the price 30 cents, then imagine what the price of oil would be if no one bought it for an entire year!

Hey - if it gets to a certain price - I will take my life into my hands and start riding a bicycle to work.

Halliburton also had contracts with the Clinton administration. And they were no-bid contracts.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it until it sinks in.

so vote for 1 theif or another, whats the differance really??? i know the trucker are feeling it, and the american consumers are to with the higher cost for product, but i dont like when someone spends 30k on a new hybrid to save 10 or 20 dollars a week in gas. doesn't make any sense.

For that matter, what does anyone want the government to do about the price of a global commodity bought, sold and traded on a global market? Drill more off the coasts, maybe? Does anyone have any idea how little market share the government has any control over, either directly or indirectly? Based on the populist nonsense I see and hear spouted on a daily basis, the answer is obviously "no."
