What is the opinion of these two classics? I have always bought Toyotas because I feel that they ride better and are quieter, but have always liked the styling and handling better on the Accord.

Neither. Both have hideously overwrought designs. I guess the meaning of "sport" at Honda and Toyota means making the ugliest front clips imaginable? I'd wear a paper bag over my head while driving either of those.

But if I were forced at gunpoint to choose one or the two? I give the SLIGHT edge to the Accord ONLY because their commercials for their "sport" Accord aren't as laughable as the Camry's commercials. The new Camry commercial conveys to women buyers that if you buy one, you'll somehow be empowered. It even has engine notes piped into the commercial that... aren't even a Camrys in some lame attempt to make it sound more appealing. So pathetic. I'm just glad that older Camry Sport commercial with that lame chick saying "its really grounded to the ground" was pulled rather quickly. Anyone remember that gem?

Both are kind of bloated but the Camry is easier on my eyes than the Accord. I like 2017 Accord Sport SE better

To keep it for a long time, id pick the Camry due to it not having a turbo, but he Direct Injected engines are new to this Camry, so time will tell if Toyota DI engines are long lasting. In person, the Camry SE/xse actually look good and all other forms look awful on the front grill, same with the Accord. The Accord sport looks better in black, so the grill doesnt stand out as much.

Purely cosmetics, I'd go with the Camry. It's got more added ugly but the basic silhouette is better. Neither are good looking vehicles. For looks I'd say the Subaru and Mazda 6 are the best lookers, Ford Fusion is kind of tired looking but still not bad. Of the melted blob cars (sagging front/rear ends), it still does it the best. Then you get your Korean cars which aren't too bad looking either. After that you get to your at least it's not ugly level, Passat, Altima, Malibu. Boring but at least they're not ugly. Then you get to the Accord and the Camry which are actively ugly. Of course, looks are subjective but that's just where I'd place them.

I'd still look at the Accord, however, as looks aren't that important to me especially in a family sedan.

From the reviews I've read, the Camry has a clunky transmission that tries to go for a higher gear too soon and the Accord has seats that are not very uncomfortable.

I'd buy neither.

I would price them out and see if they are close in price. They may not be. We buy one car and lease another and we have found that Toyotas generally lease better, much better.

Comment on cosmetics:
Thank God that Honda, at least, seems to be getting rid of that grotesque 1850s-steam-locomotive-cowcatcher design of the front grille that hit all automotive companies at the same time a few years ago.
