They don't, one is a compact car, other is closer to a mid/full size. There is NO reason to compare the two cars.
The reason is I am considering buying one or the other. They both have a hatchback which I like. I have heard good things about VW in terms of handling the road so thats why I ask. I wouldnt mind better perks on the inside - quieter, better stereo, this is what Im curious about. I believe thats reason enough.

If you are looking at the Golf, the comparable Subaru would be the Impreza(also available in a wago..... errr hatch back), not the Forester.
What's a thrum? By the way, you are comparing a hatchback to a crossover. The hatchback will probably handle better but the Forester has AWD and much more room. You can always replace the stereo. Still trying to figure out what a thrum is.

Thrum is a noise the car makes. Just ****in noisy. I hated that.
How do you know which stereo is best? to replace the stereo? Dont say go to Best Buy or I' ll rip your ****ing throat out. Hate that know-nothing scam place.

Had a Subaru Forester. Loved it but for the crappy stereo system and the thrum. How does the VW Golf compare?
Nowhere near the same vehicle. One's a small SUV, one is a compact hatchback.
