I think I was around 7 or 8. My aunt and mom walked over to the Airforce club for some beers, and my aunt left her car in the driveway......with the keys. It was a late 80's Reliant K stationwagon. Maroon paint, "wood" on the sides.....awesome. lol

So, I took it down the street thinking I was so cool for stealing it. Wanted to roll down the window, hang my arm out. As I rolled down the window, I of course took my eyes off the road to look at the damned handle, and as I was cranking the window down I was hanging on so tight to the wheel everytime I cranked I jerked the wheel up and down lol Freakin thing was all over the road.

I quickly put it back, and left the house for a few hours.

1956, northern Montana, wicked bad weather. Mother had a 1950 Olds with a key switch and a button starter. Someone showed me you could reach under the dash and wedge a dime across the terminals of the key switch, then push the button and the car would start. I took it for a ride and was very fortunate to make it back in one piece. Only 100 people in town, so not a lot to hit, or I would have hit them. I had no idea how to drive. I've improves somewhat over the last 55 years, but not sure my wife would agree...

I was 13 and my father made me drive from Topeka, KS to Ponca City, OK in a 1982 LeCar, 5speed manual while he took a nap. First class parenting huh?

That was a LONG time ago. We went to visit a family friend who lived in the country. I was 12 y.o. and he let me drive his old jeep. That was back when the windshield could be laid down over the hood. I drove it around a field. Some things you never forget.

When I got behind the wheel of the driver's ed car for the first time. My parents did not own a car at the time -- and no one but Dad was permitted to drive his company car -- so I hadn't had an opportunity to drive before signing up for driver's ed.

It was a 1975 Dodge Coronet, and it seemed like I was driving a tank. LOL

1950 Chevy pickup truck, 3 on the tree & a 6 banger. Learning how to drive a stick shift for the first time. @ a stop n go light, popped clutch 3 times on green, killed the engine 3 times. Next green, only popped the clutch twice and whiplashed the instructor.

Mine never looked as good as the one in the pic though, mine didn't hardly have any paint left.
