Just sayin'

Mike

I know what your saying, but when was the last time you heard of someone being convicted of a motor vehicle crime with no witnesses, cameras, etc... I was watching Alaska State Troopers and they came across a guy with his truck in the ditch not running and he was drunk. Cop said I can't prove you drove it here, so walk home or get a ride, he walked 20 ft down and mooned the cop and got taken in for only mooning him, haha

It starts to get to the point where you wonder where the cheating begins.

But how could you ever do it without someone thinking you cheated? Someone on the forum it was published basically figured it out that having a much bigger gas tanks and way less gas fill ups was the reason they beat it.

I read the book Brock Yates wrote about his ride alonge with Dan Gurney in one of the Cannonballs. Great book and as much fun as it sounds I'm sure it's not at all.
For comparison, in 1954, Tony Bettenhausen and a team of drivers set a fistful of AAA speed records with a full-sized Chrysler, averaging 118 mph for 24 hours.

An even better comparison and the most impressive I think , is Erwin Baker's record set in 1933. He made the run (and where the name originated from) in 54 hours with a 50 mph average.

I'm fine with it, personally. It's always fun until someone dies.

Well, I never said it was a great idea, but personal responsibility and all that. They knew the risk and would have had to face the consequences.

Personally, If I am in the left lane (which unless I am passing people I am usually not) and if you roll up going faster than me (of course heavy traffic is different) I will definitely get over. I usually cruise about 9 over. If I am going 79 in a 70 and you want to go 95 and traffic conditions allow it, have at it. If for some reason I was going 95 and you wanted to go 110, have at it. It certainly isn't offending my manhood or anything.

I was also surprised they came out so soon also. Its not as if someone is breaking the record and they have full GPS logging of the drive, seems like no real reason to not wait out the statute of limitations.

If they beat Alex Roy's record, someone can beat their record. Records were made to be broken.

Whether the car technology and the road infrastructure will be up to the task when they try to do it is another question.

Not Very fond of a Benz breaking an American record on American Roads.
They have to a build a car for that.
