We tried four different auto store glues that are for attaching mirrors. Tried Epoxy 5, I do not recall the other one. Just attaching the bracket. However we did nto wait 24 hours to put the mirror on the bracket (usually) maybe that was the problem. Sould be uneven temperature (warm on the inside, cold outside). Could be surface prep. I will call a glass place and get their price. If it is $10 as someone suggested, it is not worth messing with. However the mirror fell off after the windshield was replaced and they glued the mirror back into place, so that may not be the perfect solution. Even they did not get it right. Of course I think it was a tire store that put the new windshield in. Maybe buying a windshiled from a tire store was not the best idea.
I follow the directions on the label, make sure you clean the glass well enough. I like to use masking tape to hold the bracket to the inside of the windshield, generally I do the job in the garage - just don't do it in the hot sun. If you have to do this outside I suggest applying the glue in the evening, tape the bracket up to keep the stress off the glue, and let it set up overnight.

The problem with leaving it overnight is it will be about 8 degrees in the car unless we leave it running (although some of our earlier attempts was when it was warmer). INside the garage will nto make much difference since it is only about 1-2 degrees warmer in there. The tape idea is a great idea.
For the best way to secure your rear view mirror go to Google and type in never fall rear view mirror . this set up has 15 times surface of the little button that falls off .
There is a product called Never Fall Rear View Mirror Attachment, that beats them all. It is on Ebay. Google it and watch video. Minus 30 degrees to 300 hot. Immediate use.
Why not just take the car to a auto glass repair and let them put on the rear view mirror, should not cost that much buy the time you keep spending money on repair kits and your time it would cost you more in the long run.

The directions had to of specified a temperature range the adhesive works.
does anyone know of a good product for gluing a rear view mirror back on to a windshield. we have tried 6 different products and everyone of them the mirror fell off within a few minutes to an hour
^^^I've been there^^^ The final time I was able to get the stuff to stick and the way I did it was to thoroughly scrape and clean the inside of the windshield AND the metal piece multiple times. I mean I went at it - heck I used solvents and clean razor blades to make sure I got all prior residue off. Then I used a windshield mirror gluing kit. I followed the instructions super carefully and didn't re-attach the mirror for a couple days (I used gaffers tape to hold it in place during that time) to make certain everything was thoroughly dry before I put weight on it.
After several tries with the auto parts glue made for rear view mirrors and no luck in desperation I tried cheap Walmart rubber type glue and it was still on when I sold the cat months later.
