Yup, or the Buick lineup (especially with the small turbo 4 cyl)

Or wait just a little bit and get a 2013 Fusion hybrid. The looks are definitely upscale, with a sort of mini Aston Martin vibe going on:

And it should hit close to 40 mpg combined.

Thank you, all of these models you suggested look very nice. I will do some research on their MPG and price, Thank you, for the added personal critique of each body type.

Edit: The Ford Fusion Hybrid - I would consider waiting for that.

"luxury looking compact car that makes a very impressive, impression for myself and my business"

Are the people you are looking to "make a very impressive impression" to going to get that from a Buick or a Ford? That is not a knock on those cars at all. But depending on who you are trying to impress that may not get the job done.

How many miles per year will you drive?

Maybe fuel economy shouldn't be such a big factor.

If you drive 20,000 miles per year:

25 MPG: 800 gals per year; $2800/yr for fuel @ $3.50
30 MPG: 667 gals per year; $2333/yr for fuel
35 MPG: 571 gals per year; $2000/yr for fuel

If your emphasis on fuel economy is cost savings then do the math before you conclude what kind of economy you need. But maybe you need to make a political statement. Then just buy a hybrid or diesel.

But cars I would look at include:

Lexus IS250
Lexus CT200H (hybrid)
Infiniti G25
Acura TSX
VW CC
BMW 3 series
M-B C class
Volvo S60

I will check this model out. BMW is a very impressive looking car and makes a great impression.

When I went to the web-link you provided earlier, I only read the information from the first car that was listed, which now I see is a 2011 sedan. [my bad ]. Thank you, for taking the time to re-post and correcting me.

I'm hoping to get some feedback on my thread regarding a new car I am researching to buy for myself.

A little me and what I am looking for.

ME: I'm a female in my 40's living in NoCal. I work in the cosmetic industry and will use my car for work and non-work.

CAR: Looking for a stylish, luxury compact car, or luxury looking compact car that makes a very impressive, impression for myself and my business, also, has very good MPG, good warranty and safe.

Edit : I like to add that I am looking for a new car to purchase not lease

$$$ :As per my budget I'm open but I would like to keep it under $40K

-gosh- I feel like I wrote a personal on a singles site
How do you define impressive impression? In what way are you trying to impress someone else? Do you want them to think you spent a lot of money? Or that you know a lot about cars and made a brilliant choice? Or do you want them to actually be impressed with the car, and not just with the nameplate? Or...?

Last year I drove 16k miles. I expect that to change this year. I will estimate 20k -23k.
