Have you looked at the '08-11 Camry? It seems like you can get them for a little less than an Accord, but the reliability is about equal. My Mom has a '10 Camry LE and it's plenty roomy. With the exception of some tire rumble, it's very quiet too.

I know both cars, and the Camry is really a notch below the Accord on quality. The Camry feels cheap compared to the Accord.

It may "feel cheaper", but it'll be on the road just as long. The Camry powertrain is pretty bullet proof.

That's true. Can't argue with Toyota reliability.

When buying a used car, the most important factor (besides personal comfort) is the way that the car was maintained. On a 2010 car, there isn't likely to have been much maintenance that the previous owner skipped, but on a 2008 or 2009 car, there is a potential minefield of developing problems to be dealt with if the previous owner was not keen on maintaining the car.

Personally, I would NEVER buy a used car unless it came with full maintenance records. And, then, of course, I would need to be able to sit down for at least a few minutes, and compare those records with the mfr's maintenance schedule that should be sitting in the glove box.

But, maintenance records or not, any final contender for purchase needs to be inspected by your mechanic, prior to purchase. This inspection can detect unreported collision damage, as well as incipient problems that will soon develop into the need for repairs.

IMHO, anyone who buys a used car without taking these precautions is just putting himself in danger of buying a flawed vehicle.

But the build quality of the Accord and Altima is better than the Fusion, so it'll likely last just as long, maybe longer.

I drove a new '11 Accord as a rental...I was not impressed. My '04 Camry had more power and was more comfortable. The engine in the Accord was way too lethargic for my tastes. I'd take a Camry ovet the Accord, the Fusion is nice too..I tend to get them as rentals when we go to FL. Plenty of power and comfortable.

Probably an LX, with a 177 hp engine. EX and higher have 190 hp. Makes a big difference. Also you can get a V6 with 268 hp.

I would go over the Fusion ( rather I would not go with Honda) or the Altima. IMO this current generation of the Accord is not very good. It seems the only good thing that people can say about Honda ( and Toyota for that matter) is that they are reliable. The Fusion is just as reliable as both of them. I also think it has a better interior than both of them as well as more features depending on what model you get. I think the Altima is pretty good as well. I rented one and was actually impressed.

BTW..I have owned 3 Accords (96,03,06). They always started but the 96 and 03 was always in the shop for other problems. I sold my 06 after 2 years before it happened again

I looked at it. Personally it looks too "fat" my liking. Not that I'm one to talk though.
