I was thinking about buying a 2003 mustang mach 1 from a independent dealer but there arent many reviews on the place and they are from 2 years ago. Acouple say they got jipped and a few say its a good place. Can you get an independent inspection on the car from a place like this usually, whats the best way to handle a situation like this.

Also the car has 77kmiles on it but it says it has new ford motor with 4k miles driven on it with a 3year unlimited miles warranty, does that sound legitimate. How long can this go for, 150k miles?

77K miles and its got a new motor already?sounds like the car could be a lemon or been raced i'd steer clear and look into buying a well maintained car from a private party, any deal should give you the option of taking the car to an independent mechanic of your choice to have it inspected,if that option is not on the table i'd wonder why and probably end up walking away from the deal..

If it needed a new engine that soon most likely it was not maintained. That means other things, such as the expensive to repair transmission
were also not maintained. There's a reason the independent dealer is selling it, the new car dealers would normally keep and sell a 2003 with only 77,000 miles, if they auctioned/wholsaled it that means they knew something.

Stay away! Independent dealers tend to have auctioned cars with issues that they repair as cheaply as possible and a new engine at 77k is an indication that it was poorly maintained and/or driven hard. You are asking for trouble with that car.
