Just got done watching this video. To keep this post short and sweet, I'll just conclude with saying, I don't care how many lives it saves, or how much more time it gives you to spend on your work, I enjoy my freedom of cruising on the open road under my own damn control!

Yes I'd rather have control myself, but might be good for the boring commutes.

Enjoy it while you can as i see a future where that privilege maybe taken away due to cost or government dictating rules that would make vehicle ownership unpractical if not impossible..

As long as they don't communicate with each other by talking and texting while 'driving'

A recent article in the auto mag I suscribe stated the federal government is set a approve self-driving software as soon as '12.
The fact of the matter is auto manfactcurers have been working toward this for decades through various passive systems many of which are under the veil of safety. Systems such as: ABS, traction control, distance sensing cruise control, electronic stability, electronic steering, drive-by-wire throttle, electronic braking, navigation, and the mac daddy of all; self-parking.
Alone and introduced seperately these systems appear unintrusive but integrated as they are now these systems are part of the big picture: self-driving vehicles.
Not only does conventional wisdom believe this will reduce accidents but also ease traffic congestion and reduce fuel consumption.

I see advantages on highways during commute times in cutting down traffic dramatically.

I would never want my backroads to succumb to automated driving through.

Hum...Driverless cars are only as good as their designers...and Humans aren't perfect by any stretch.
