The latest generation of the 3 American muscle cars look similar to their original predecessors from the 1960s and early 1970s, with 21st century automotive technology added in. I'm sure everyone of us has their own preference between the 3, so let's ask the question, if you were in the market for a new generation American muscle car, which one would you choose?

I'd hold out for a SRT10 or drop top Challenger, and I'd take a Camaro over a Mustang. The same would go for the originals, but I know some of the rare GM and Ford pony cars might put up a fight with one another.

For me it would be a tough choice between the Dodge Challenger and the Ford Mustang, but I think I would go with the Mustang. Up until 1997, I had a 1984 Mustang GT with the 5.0 Litre/302 V-8, and a 4-bbl carburator, and a 4-speed manual transmission. Although the engine's performance was not that impressive compared to the older Mustangs of the 1960s through 1972, or the latest generation, it could still give the Z-28, with the 350 V-8 of the mid 1980s a good challenge.

Being a die hard Chrysler fan I'd still go with a Mustang.

if it were the orginal I would love a 1969 T/A with a 400 and Ram Air IV and 4-speed manual

but if we are talking new (retro modren) a mustang GT 5.0 with 6-speed manual, trac-pac opt and brembo big brake option with the factory optional 3.73 rear gearing

Depends on the power in each. I'll buy a Mustang Saleen over any car. lol People seem to underestimate the Saleen.
