It doesn't affect the price, it affects the value. I'm just playing a word game with you but hear me out. They could put a million dollar price on it, but if no one feels that it is worth that to them then the value is not there. People will only buy something when their perceived value of it is equal to or exceeds the price.
Some people won't buy a smoked out car at any (reasonable) price.
Some people won't buy a car that has heavy pet odor.
Most people won't buy a car that smells like something died in it/or rotted in it.
...even if all three examples are the right color, have no collision damage, and are in perfect running order and have low miles.
If they won't lower the price enough to meet what you feel is the value then walk away.
