You're comparing a modern musclecar to a luxury sport sedan. Two very different vehicles. The BMW is the better driver, but the Camaro is faster. The BMW is more refined and precise, and the Camaro is more slam-you-in-the-seat fun. The BMW is much nicer inside, no question about that.

The BMW is almost to the point where repairs can be a big dollar expense, while the Camaro is new and should cost you very little in service.

I'd get a 2011 Subaru WRX. 0-60 in 4.7 and awesome AWD for winter.

As far as the original thread topic goes, I'd go with the BMW myself but its difficult to compare the two. The 328i is the cheaper BMW and isn't the quickest but it will be far more enjoyable to drive (at least in terms of the qualities I like) than the Camaro.

neither. Look hard at a new Mustang 5.0. Does everything better then the camaro and is comparable to the M3 on the track.

Might want to factor in maintenance(tires, oil changes) and repair costs too?

The BMW is going to be out of warranty within the first year you own it while you will have a full warranty on the comaro.

So, between the two I'd go Comaro...but frankly the new Mustangs are *insanely* good and I'd strongly suggest you at least test drive one before making up your mind.

BMW 3 series are a dime a dozen on the roads. Stand out from the crows and get the Camaro...

Considering you are thinking of getting a new Camaro or 2008 328i for the same price, my guess is that you are talking about a pretty basic V6 Camaro. In that case if those two are your only choice, I would take the BMW as the Camaro in V6 trim just really isn't worth it. The car really needs the V8 to move itself around. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't much of a straight line performance difference between the V6 Camaro and a 328i.

However, as others have said you may want to consider the new Mustang. It's a much better car overall than the Camaro (and I'm generally a GM guy) and when comparing the V6 cars it isn't even close. The other shadow option would be an Audi A4, that's my personal pick over the 328i. Turbo + 6 speed manual + quattro = fun and Audi = class.
