WRC drivers are right up there in car control skills, and an old fatass like Steve Kinser couldn't even fit in the seat (he also stunk it up in Indycar and NASCAR).
Is it easier for a 30 year old F1 driver to win a 1.5 hr sprint race against 20 other drivers or is it easier for a 30 year old Cup driver to win a four hour 500 mile race againt 42 other drivers?
Schumacher is not going to jump into a Cup car and win his first race if he even qualifies. Jimmy Johnson is not going to win a F1 race his first time out.
Does it really matter?
All I will say is look at how well the NASCAR guys do when it comes time to road race. Sub drivers and not very cup drivers riddle the race. Aside from a few nascar drivers they cant run the turns very well.

For some reason Road racers can be successful into their 50's 60's the same is not true in Nascar especially Cup when your 50 you get to join team DW Done Winning.

Or maybe your appearance just won't get you a ride with one of the top marketing teams?
Just to clarify, F1 cars weigh >60% less than a Cup car. 1334# compared to 3450#.
The skill it takes to get the most out of an F1 car is physically extreme.
The skill it takes to get the most out of a cup car is mostly mental, way less physical, it's more knowing what to tell your crew chief what the car needs to be the best.
As far as talented drivers, it is F1 hands down. They are working gears, brakes, tyres, and acceleration to the extreme edges of failure/lost performance.
Nascar requires a little more "racecraft" to win than F1 though.
So, as far as talented racecar drivers are concerned, they are both superior and inferior than the other in their own ways, as far as their particular motorsport is concerned.
There's a reason Montoya is spectacular on Road Courses but hasn't won on an oval in a cup car....yet. Indy 500, no problem, those are real race cars. Cup cars, not so much.
You've never driven in a 250+ mile race in a stock car have you?
I have, and it's exhausting physically. So is a 3+ hour road race. which I've done. I must say I liked Watkins Glen! But I prefer drag racing over any over form of auto racing. Now if you want excitement to go see as a spectator, a local dirt track is best.

You don't win 20 WoO Championships for being a fatass. Steve is one of the greatest competitors of all time, and he raced and won against many of the other greatest competitors of all time.
By your definition, Dick Trickle was worthless because he never was competitive in a Cup car. That guy won over 1200 races, and I believe Steve has won over 700. I'd easily rank those two talent-wise above 95% of the best NASCAR and F1 drivers.
Oh, and WoO takes more car control than an F1 or NASCAR car. A lot more. Just look at how newbish the Cup guys look when they race the Prelude. Go to a WoO race and see for yourself. If you can race on dirt, you can race on ANYTHING!
Which of the two series requires greater athleticism to be successful as a driver? John Force is a successful driver in drag racing, and drag racing may require skills that are rare, but is that overweight 60 year old an athlete?
Surely. You need to be in good shape to endure the G-forces that Drag Racers face.

Really? Maybe Mark Martin didnt get the memo you werent suppose to win at 50 cause he won 5 times last year at 50.
