Just to "stir it up', if the chase wasn't in place and the point system for all year was like it used to be, Tony would be in the lead points wise!
Is there a website that tracks that? I was just curious.
My take though is that if this was a normal point system, then the #48 team would probably be on top. The reason I say that is this: I think the #48 team goes about this Chase business much more serious than other teams do. The first 26 races for them is just a primer to get them into the Chase. Wins are great during the first part, but not the number one priority. They want to be in a comfortable position in the top 12 of course, but they are also trying different things to get ready for the Chase.
Once the Chase starts, then the #48 turns it up several notches.
That is unless your #48, he now has a 181 point lead and unless something catastrophic happens its over.
His worse run of the chase and everone else was far worse. Go figure.
Yeah, its like the 48 has chaser repellent, he finished 8th today and the closest chaser finished 21st. If you're running top 10 he's running top 5, if you're running top 5 he's running top 3, if you're running top 3 he's winning.
