Tony Stewart has said his team is interested in running a third car in Sprint Cup in 2010. Adding Harvick in a package with a strong sponsor would be a masterstroke.
Kevin would be a good fit a Stewart-Haas, since Kevin and Tony are friends. Not sure what is going on at RCR, they have fallen off the radar and have no drivers in the Chase.
The other driver in the Stewart-Haas third car that I would like to see is Brad Kesolowski, so he can be in the HMS affiliate cars.
There was also rumor on NASCAR Now that Danica Patrick would be a possibilty for that seat. Seriously doubt that though, she would have to start out in at least Nationwide before that. Personally I don't think she would do as well as she is now anyway.
I was watching NASCAR Now yesterday, Kevin's contract doesn't end until after the 2010 season.
RCR says Kevin will be with that team until his contract runs out.
I realize that some drivers have gotten out of their contract early, ie: Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart.
But Richard Childress is known for being a staunch advocate of holding folks to their contracts.
But since Kevin hasn't won in quite a while, it does seem like the magic is gone with the 29 team. Maybe a change for both Kevin and his team would be best in the long run.
If Stewart-Haas doesn't work out, Red Bull racing said they may be interested, especially if Red Bull changes to Chevy's next season.
I can see Stewart-Haas picking up Harvick. He would be a quality addition for a third car on the team. I just don't see them taking a flying on Danica Patrick however. Lots of questions around here right now on whether she would be competitive or not, even with good equipment. She brings sponsors with her that are attractive, but I would think Stewart-Haas right now would rather see a third car driven by a legitimate veteran chase contender than a rookie stock car driver.
