Absolutely the worst race coverage ever! Someone at TNT should get fired for that disaster, and they should take bill weber with them! The race was pretty pathetic as well! Remember when Plate races were exciting?

I agree about the coverage and it seems to get worse each time! I ended up falling asleep right after it started. I realize it's the advertising that makes NASCAR but come on....I would like to be able to enjoy the race too!!

Maybe they've beaten me down, but I didn't mind the coverage.

Yes, my ears want to close when they hear Bill Weber talking, but I take the bad with the good.

The only thing I didn't like much was that my driver had a special paint job for the race that blended him into the field when he was in traffic.

BTW, if you think this was bad, you should catch the TV replays of Tony Stewart's Prelude to a Dream race from last month. The camera work was PATHETIC!!! The announcers would get all excited about something going on out on the track and the cameras never followed!

I remember when they didn't have no steenking plates and really raced.

Yeah, me too. The problem is when Bobby Allison almost ended up in the stands......nearly as high as the flag men and took half the fence out. These guys were actually flying. Something had to be done to keep the speeds down to a safer speed. It is somewhat boring now but at least the drivers aren't dieing as often and the fans are kept safer! Racing just isn't what it use to be but at least we do have some good memories!

I believe there are much better ways to limit speed if need be, tire size/compound, downforce reduction being two that come to mind. I've seen too many plate races with cars nose to tail yet no passing attempts due to lack of HP. HP can save you at times and plates are probably responsible for more wrecks than excessive speed (and what IS excessive in racing) ever was.

You could very well be right! I personally know little about how cars work----I do know about racing to some degree. I probably only repeat what I have heard myself. A person who understands all the dynamics definitely would understand way more then I do!!

Vey often when a car starts breaking loose you can use power to help bring it back in line. A plate motor, being wide open all the time, has no reserve power to help you out of bad situations. The last dyno sheets I saw had the plate mptors down something like 300HP on 'normal' motors.

I do see what you are saying---even in my personal driving I have had to use the extra power to pull my car/truck back in line when it gets loose so that does make perfect sense. Good point! Even the truck I now own has a Hemi basically because when I need that extra power I want to have it! Like trying to pass another vehicle or even to get onto a busy, fast moving hwy! It would be kinda scary not to have that power available. But they can't have these guys "flying" either. Guess as you said there might be other ways to slow them down without the plates.

I was at the race so can't comment on the coverage but I wouldn't call the race boring.

Most of the action was back behind the top 5 cars.
