I was at HEB plus (riverside and pleasant valley) and they had bulk pinto beans for cheap. This inspired me to learn how to cook my own beans, and now I'm totally happy about it. I can make them with any flavors I want, save money, and rely on beans for food storage with some mylar bags and food storage oxygen absorbers.

But now I want to find other bulk foods, specifically soybeans. Wholefoods is usually too expensive. I recently found central market on South Lamar. Nice store, but not exactly what I'm after.

I think I'm going to check out the local Asian market (MT it think?) and see what they have.

Any suggestions are welcomed. Also, any big box Non-Membership bulk stores? Back home we have 'smart and final', which is pretty much awesome b/c anyone can shop there.

Sun Harvest - they have 2 stores. One is at S Lamar in the Brodie Oaks Shopping Center and the other just off Anderson Lane at Rockwood. I think you'll find they have the best selection and price.

Sprouts and Newflower also offer some bulk items. Some of the HEB's have a pretty decent bulk section too. The stores in Bee Cave and Westlake both have bulk selections.
