Have you filled out and mailed in your form? Just saw a news report that Austin lags the national average in submitting the census forms. Where do you stand?

I filled mine out. Took about 8 minutes. If they would remove or simplify the ridiculously confusing race/ethnicity questions, it would take 2 minutes to complete.

It wasn't until after I sent it back I read something about choosing "Other" and writing in "American", which I'll do in 10 years if I remember.

Yep.

It's kinda funny - we had to Google what race my SO is, since latino/hispanic isn't a race. FYI, if you're Mexican, you're apparently of the Caucasian race. Something about descending from Europeans or something...

I said to him: "congratulations, you're white." He wasn't happy.

I sent mine in the same day I got it. It's basically only 3 questions that they ask 8 times to make sure you don't fill it out wrong. It's easier for me though, I am about as white as they come, so my ethnicity is just the cut and dried type that the census form looks for.

I didn't get a form yet. Out in the county. Neither did any of my neighbors.

Really? We hadn't had it but a few days when we got a post card, and then a phone call asking us to fill it out and return it. It felt a bit pressured...I'm glad to be done with it.
