Yes yes, just personal preference based on the character of the neighborhood and the proximity to downtown. Absolutely nothing to do with safety. I should have been more clear about that.

You are right to want to check it out first. I think that area is fine, the area has been changing and it can be wonderful for a few blocks and a few blocks in another direction its all industrial... I would also check out the schools at www.SchoolMatters.com or www.GreatSchools.com. It sounds like you have a while before your kids are ready for that anyway. I love the Texan Market too. The lady that manages it is super nice and they have Beanitos. Beanitos are my new favorite snack chip that is totally corn free and made with black beans. You have to try some! Good luck with your lease and welcome to the neighborhood. Your gonna love south Austin!
