Along with the rest of SoCal I I am movin' to Austin. Need advice on neighborhoods in SW or W areas. Want detached house, hills, view?. Any newer houses(less than 5yo) in my price range (300K-$400K)? I am not a sit at home/stay at home type and would like to live as close in to downtown as possible within my price range.

Do you really need views? South Congress is a hot area right now and is close to downtown. It has a laid back very austiny feel. On a map it is not well defined, but it is the area of congress south of the river, not sure what road borders it to the south. To some extent it extends to the area east of mopac and west of I35 too. The closer you are to zilker, the more expensive. But on the south edge of soco, probably within 5-10 blocks of zilker (walking distance) you can get a house in your price range.
