If given the choice between the two, what would your ideal version of Austin be 40 years from now? I did not include "the same as it is now" as that would the overwhelming favorite, but unrealistic response. I only included two options, as a third option (Chicago for example) would only dilute the poll. Which current US city model would you like our city to end up as (yet still an "Austin" version of) in terms of density?

The old is new again...in the near future, density and urban transit will be the new paradigm

One has crazy sprawl and the other is super dense? I'm assuming that is the difference between the 2 poll choices?

I can tell ya coming from somewhere that is sprawling, it's much nicer to keep people in town and not spreading out and out and out... the traffic and pollution are awful.

We're going to look like any other sprawling Southern city. Probably a little closer to looking like Dallas - Ft. Worth by sprawling southwards as San Antonio sprawls northwards.

In 2050, Austin will be what Dallas is today. I just came back from there and Im amazed at how Austin is basically turning into a smaller Dallas with a prettier landscape.

Gee, who would of thought that living a lifestyle where you move 3,000lbs ~15,000 miles per year, and each person requires ~1,200 sq feet living space would be sustainable?

I wouldn't mind 1200sf to myself if I lived alone, but a typical family of 4 doesn't need a 4800sf house (assuming that's what you were referring to).
