What type of pipes are used in the building of the homes these days? I've read some nasty things about pvc, (leaching plastic) and wonder what the "green" homes are using, if anything different.

PVC, afaik, is not an issue under normal conditions (i.e. <boiling temperatures), but I have not really researched it or anything...

We just put in a new bathroom and our plumber used PEX also. He also used it for the install of our new radiators. I wasn't sure what it was, so I looked it up.

We've used the same plumber for over 10 years and adore him. He says that this is all he uses in new installs anymore.
