Hi - My company is hosting a conference for 200 of our clients in Austin next month. Since we are having it in the great city of Austin I wa
nted to give our sponsors and speakers a gift that somehow tied into the city. The price range would be $30 to $50. The only think I could think of is a great Austin coffee table book but I haven't found a great one. I know Austin is also known for it's music but not sure how I can gift that in as a thank you gift. Any well-known local artist? photography? something autographed..? any ideas would be greatly appreciated! THANKS!

Well, if you could come up with 200 Austin City Limits Festival CD's, that might do the trick as far as music is concerned. You could add a Texas Passport to that and still come in under budget.

"Keep Austin Weird" by Red Wassenich is a great coffee table book.

This is a great idea!!

It definitely says "Austin" & it would also support local PBS....which is bound to take a hit with the financial bailouts that are taking place.

& instead of the texas passport, maybe nab an extra CD to go along with the ACL CD (here are some):

If I was one of you clients, I'd love to have a Steve Earle..or a Willie..or a Lucinda Williams...or a Sir Doug...or a Sir Doug & the Texas Tornados CD.

What about a bottle of BBQ or hot sauce? Others would know better where to find that stuff. Hee hee, or a 10 gallon hat!

Okay, I'm going to say the passport, a CD (or double CD) with a variety of local artists (or the Austin City Limits one), and the "Keep Austin Weird" book. You can probably get all of those for the bottom of your budget, and it's a variety so everybody's likely to be pleased.

And you could add to the above with a small bottle of Rudy's BBQ sauce! That stuff is awesome! ENough "spice" for those non-Texas people.

Or Stubbs BBQ sauce or Salt Lick BBQ sauce, depending on which you like best!

Or one of the local salsas.
