My husband just started a new job right near the Capitol. We really don't want to pay for parking and deal with the hassle. He was thinking of parking on the outskirts and riding his bike in or perhaps a shuttle bus. Anyone have info on free parking not too far from E. 12th street and Red River? Once the metrorail starts up he will be using that.

Thanks!

When I was working at the Marriott on 11th and I35, I used to park on 9th, between Red River & I35. It's free on most of the street.

There's a Park & Ride at Austin High School and the Dillo comes by to take commuters downtown.

Not anymore. They changed the Dillo routes effective 8-24. They consolidated down to 2 routes - one goes East- West and the other North- South. It looks like they did away with the Austin High and Toomey Rd pickups. I rode it the week before and I haven't gotten back on Cap Metro's website to find out how to catch it in the event of jury duty (again).

Thanks, I didn't know that.
