Embarrassed to see this on TV. Officer on leave after video shows him tripping, grabbing and pushing students | kxan.com

We teach our children to respect authority but his actions were deplorable. Kicking and trying to trip the kids deserved more that paid leave for the officer. Maybe the kids shouldn't have rushed the field in celebration but his actions were no where near the correct thing to do.

Yeah, I saw this on the local news earlier. Terribly embarrassing... aside from the fact that this officer has apparently never, ever -- not once -- watched a field sporting event (high school or college) where kids storm the field and taken notes on what is SOP is for various levels of field crowd control. Instead let's just TRIP minors.

It'll be on the national news tomorrow. Guaranteed.

Damn it all. As someone entering the academy next January, this kind of thing makes me rage so hard inside. Douche canoes like this idiot make every cop look bad in the public's eyes, and we have enough of an uphill battle already when it comes to earning the respect of the people. Argh, I just... I dont even.

The kids probably shouldn't have gone to the field, but seriously, it was like 2 dozen kids - hardly a "storm." And none of them were acting like idiots, they were hugging each other. What the officer did was ridiculous and a complete over reaction. However, I think the public is also over reacting to what he did. Was it a bad move? Yeah, but he wasn't as violent as people are making it out to be.

The students weren't even upset about it. But the news outlets are messaging kids and hounding them for comments, almost wanting them to get angry. Everyone just needs to move on.

It's OK to rush the field. They're kids.

It's such a stupid stunt that's it's almost comical. It was obviously a terribly bad decision by the Officer, fairly sure he already regrets the night.

Orange shorts hit the ground on one knee, ouch. I'm sure he'll get some payment at the taxpayers expense for this fool that shouldn't have a badge. He was bold to pull that alone in front of so many other grown men.

For you people saying the kids shouldn't of stormed the field, this is normal with all sports for many years , so it is very acceptable, it's called pride for your team.

Now for that cop , hope the kids sues him and the cop gets fired. It would be one less scum on the streets to abuse his authority.

Not sure why that made the national news.
