Hello people,

I was hoping someone can help me remember a place I went to several months ago. It was a fish and chips place where you ordered at the window right around the entrance and wait for them to call your number in the dining area which is really just stools that line the inner walls of the place with a 1 to 1 ½ foot table that ran around the place. It was just outside of downtown to the east. If I remember the street it was on seemed like a major artery of the city. Any help would be great. Btw, the fish there was great!!

Can't think of a spot that exactly matches that, but it sounds a little like Terry's Seafood or Quality Seafood, both on Airport blvd. I'm not sure if they served fish and chips, so I could be wrong. Quality Seafood is good for oysters... another similar place is Pacific Star in NW Austin off 183. Very good oysters and reasonable prices...

the place looked like it was a converted Church's Chicken. I was traveling through downtown going west to east. I want to say it was on MLK but I don't know if you guys even have an MLK.

Yes, we have an MLK and Terry's is right there at MLK and Airport Blvd (might look it up and see if that was what you remember.) It's not in downtown, but about 5 - 7 or so minutes to the east, you would have crossed under I35 to get there. Not such a nice area. Also, MLK on the west side borders the UT campus, so if you were driving directly west on MLK you'd end up a bit north of downtown.

As I was driving away from downtown it was to my left. the aerial view on Mapquest looks very familiar at the Airport intersection. I will definately go back when I am in the area. I don't get spooked too much about bad parts of town. Thanks for all of your help atxcio.
