Driskill! First and best!

There is also the Four Seasons, Omni, Hilton, Hyatt, Radisson, etc etc. plus many smaller boutique hotels like the Heywood. http://www.heywoodhotel.com/

Four Seasons. You will never want to check out. Drink in the lobby bar, eat at Trio (among the best in town), stroll among the oaks overlooking Town Lake down to the bars of Rainey St. There is nothing like it in Austin.

The Radisson has rooms with views of town lake and a great dining room with those same views. My wife and I used to eat breakfast there several times a week just to enjoy the view of the lake before going to work.

Radisson Hotel & Suites Austin Downtown

The Four Seasons also has some great rooms with views of Town Lake, but the dining room views are not as good as at the Radisson.

Depends on your budget... and your taste. I've spent so many hundreds of nights in Corporate travel hotels that I value the non cookie-cutter places with individuality .

Driskoll is that for sure, and the Stephen F. Austin Hotel, and a fave of mine, Hotel San Jose on S Congress. When the weather is decent I could sit out on that central patio of theirs for hours, just enjoying the ambiance, the people, a nice glass of wine.
