Other than right next to a frat house on Greek Row, I would move anywhere in Austin!

You don't have to worry about what race you are if you are planning to move to Austin.

Really? Would you say UT frats have racist members? Just curious.

Over the years, there have been several racist incidents at some of the frats. Most of it was just really, really stupid, not violent. Although, I think it is good advice for anybody.....stay off of frat row .

I'm not sure he meant frat row is rascist. I don't think that too many people want to live there unless they're in college. There are really no African American "communities" like you would find in Atlanta, Houston, etc...However, Anywhere East of 35 would probably have a larger community than elsewhere.

I would move to north west Austin or east Austin if I were you. Austin does not have a large African-American populous at all though.

There's really no place you CAN'T live or shouldn't live but some areas have more African-American cultural activities. For example, the area around the Carver Museum and Library is heavily African-American. But the housing options are limited (although the area is becoming gentrified).

I checked out these sites today based on a poster and found lots of information regarding the African American community: soulciti.com | the people's information source and www.austinblackpages.com. They were resourceful for me and may be for you as well OP.
