Some years, we go big invitation list, simple idea - backyard with balloons, etc. This year, we are going smaller friend list, but want to get more creative on the birthday idea. Will probably be about five boys, ages 7-8.

We have found this online community to have great ideas in Austin for birthdays in the past, would love to hear your experiences and suggestions. Not interested in the common stuff, we have done it -bounce houses, bowling, etc. Looking for things that boys at this age would really be into, and not as commonplace. One thought is the new indoor go-kart K1 track. That is a possibility. Other ideas?

Ideally, in the Central/West/Southwest areas of Austin, but would consider anything.

Thanks!

If they aren't TOO macho, the make-your-own-art parties at Art Attack are fun.

Austin Rock Gym will do parties for this age group, Blazer Tag will too. But indoor sky driving and zip lines require kids to be older (10-14 years).

Innerspace Caverns' explorer tour (regular tour plus 20 minutes in an undeveloped area with a flashlight might suit this age group.

thanks! Keep them coming. I had looked into paintball, indoor sky diving and zip lines -- all require older kids.

Birthday will be in April, so maybe too cold for ski boat. I like the sleepover idea, or maybe some kind of nerf gun battle in the backyard....

austin park and pizza actually is a little more fun than k1. You can get an unlimited wrist band and just keep riding the go karts.
