We have two days/nights in downtown Austin without a car. We are Hilton Honors members so I would like to take advantage of a Hilton Family property so I can use points for an award stay. The Downtown Hilton ( on 4th) , the Doubletree Suites (on 15th), and the Embassy Suites ( on the other side of the Lake on Congress) are all same award redemption levels.....

Any thoughts as to which property is nicest and within a walking distance of some downtown attractions?

Thanks.

The downtown Hilton is a prime spot to be within walking distance to pretty much everything downtown. I think it is also the newest hotel of the list you mentioned.

I agree with AustinGuy. The Hilton is the easiest location to walk to the various downtown sights. Both it and the Embassy are convenient for the river and events up to 6th street and local businesses south of the river. The Hilton is a bit easier for the downtown walk since the Congress street bridge is a good walk for the non-competitive walker

The Doubletree is on the wrong side of IH35 for easy downtown access and while it is close to the UT campus, most of the touristy sights are closer to 6th street than 15th street. It is also much easier to catch a bus or trolley from 4th street than 15th without a significant walk.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites Downtown in August. It was very nice, and the service was excellent.
