Are there any other parents whose kids did not speak english perfectly because either they were at home or coming from different country.
And then they sent their kids to PreK to brush up their english.

How did your kids react to this big change.
which preK did you choose and why
What did you do to minimize the moving shock

Just a heads up but all kids must turn 5 years on or before September 1st to enter kindergarten in Texas.

The majority of kids we know here attend pre-school (or mother's day out programs) prior kindergarten. Preschool in general and Pre-k -- the year of preschool before Kindergarten -- are mostly private operations here, you pay to send your child there, it's not free. Nearly all kids attend some type of preschool here before entering Kindergarten at the very least to build social skills even though it's not mandatory.

You may well know all this but just clarifying in case you didn't!

ya i know that but thanks for the info still.

Actually I am looking for a preK for my son, since he is more of a francophone I want him to go to the PreK so that he can get at ease with english before starting the school.

What are mothers outing program, can you give me some links to get more info about them.

If there is a public school near you with a PREK program, check into that.
Prek in TX is usually for underprivledged or ESL students. It sounds like your son might be ESL, and they could admit him based on that.

I'm not sure exactly how it works. Both of my oldest went to public prek. The first because I was still in my Masters courses and we qualified via income and the second because he is color blind. They both benefitted greatly from it.

Because of the budget crunch last couple of years, the public pre-ks have opened up to paying parents in some districts. I would look into that at the school your child will eventually attend. You need to hurry though because acceptances have already been mailed out to some programs, such as Casis (our local elem). Not sure if the pay option has filled the programs to capacity or if they still have openings.
