How long until the trees get green? My wife wants to know. I just tell her, "when it gets really, really hot".

Middle of March is when I usually notice the trees starting to get leaves. I've been thinking it might come early this year because of the mild winter and plentiful rain, but it's not very far away in any case.

Agree with previous replies. I keep a garden journal and the leaves on my trees emerge around 3/15.

I drive all over the area for work and I've already seen some trees with new leaves on them. I've also seen some cherry trees with flowers.

My little bitty fig tree that I planted in January (bare root) has gotten a nice little bunch of green leaves at the top. If it freezes again this year, I will need to protect that. But its good to see that it likes its new home. Not sure what my bare root plum thinks yet - not much activity there.

My pear and pomegranate are beginning to get leaf buds. My oaks haven't dropped their leaves yet, so they're good
