So this thread has been posted before, but back in 2008 and it only got 3 replies, but does anyone know of a good overnight parking option for Austin Greyhound Station. One of the suggestions was the Lakeline Mall parking lot -- its close by and free, but its obviously not very secure/safe. Another thing I was thinking was maybe leaving it at a Park n Ride (there's one on North Lamar and 183 about 5 minutes away) and taking a short cab ride there? Anyone have any other suggestions for cost effective overnight parking at the Greyhound Station? Any help is appreciated.

I think you mean Highland Mall and I don't think that would be a safe place to leave your car overnight. Maybe the parking lot of a nearby hotel, there are several in the area.

Agree, Highland Mall is no longer a safe place. Kind of an oddball idea, but there are a couple of car dealerships nearby - maybe they would let you lock it up on their lot?

A UT student I know did it this way once: he parked his car in the Northcross Mall Wal-Mart parking lot. The store is open 24-hours, the lot is well lit, and always has cars in it. He walked across the street and took a city bus that goes to Highland Mall and stops across from the Greyhound bus station. This is similar to what he does when going to classes by parking his car at the Far West HEB and catching the UT shuttle.

Really for just one night, you can find a parking spot on any safe looking suburban street in Austin and take the city bus to the station.
