How many months out of the year can you shut off the air conditioning and open the windows?

Mainly during the winters months--a few days early spring and late fall--other than that, get used to Mister A/C.

November, March, and April usually. December, I have the A/C off but the windows closed to retain heat (I don't run the heater until it gets really cold...January typically).

Well, 2 of the folks that live here have severe outdoor allergies so ,never. When no one is home and its a nice day I air out the house for a couple of hours but other than that, never.

From late oct/early nov all the way thru jan, then again at the end of Feb all the way thru april most years.

Although I never open my windows anymore b/c of the neighbors dogs. Just too much barking, it sounds like they are right outside my window

A hard question to answer, actually. Roughly mid October - Mid November if I had to pick a time window where you can consistently do it every day, I guess, and then again in the spring from Mid March to the end of April, but really there are days all through out the fall, winter, and spring where you can do that depending on when cold fronts come through. I remember it being 81 degrees on New Years Day for example. I think the base winter temperature is warm enough to open the windows in the day, but then cold fronts come through for a week at a time and that's when it is too cold to do that.

My favorite way to live life is to have all the windows and doors open on a crisp fall day with friends over to watch college football and bbq, ending the night around the firepit in the back yard That's living the good life, right there!

We pay our dues in the summer no doubt, but it all feels worth it in the perfect fall and spring, and mild winter.

not every day but
early Oct thru start of cedar pollen in December and then early March (after cedar pollen season) to early May for me

but I've opened windows in every month. Just recently (July) I opened the windows in my living room to air out the paint smell after applying oil based enamel to a cabinet. It was 100+ but I couldn't bear the smell.

I also air out after smoking the house up from cooking, if CFLs break, or other reasons. If it's cedar season I think twice though because there will be a penalty for doing that.
