Hey, I have a Ford Excursion. I need to get a brake job on it, pretty soon Anyone have a good recommendation of a place where you went to get brakes and they gave you brakes, not tried to sell you a new engine. I am new to the area, I don't want to go to a shyster. I am in Cedar Park. I don't mind driving.

I do all of my own work short of anything needing a $70,000 piece of equipment like alignments. I took my car to John and Corkys Automotive Specialist in Round Rock for that a few weeks ago and I was very happy with their work and the perceived honesty. I always get extremely nervous when anyone else needs to touch one of my cars and I didn't have that with these guys.

I don't know if they have set rates for something like brakes but their hourly rate is pretty average at $85ish/hr.

I own an automotive shop. I'm in South Austin & I doubt you would want to go that far, so I am just offering some advice. Pay a little extra for a Motorcraft pad set. They are original equipment quality and fit. The kit will come complete with all the anti-squeal hardware pieces the generic cheap pad sets leave out. We have had excellent luck using nothing but Motorcraft pads on any Ford product. We get ours from A-Line Auto Parts which has several locations in the Austin area.
I would recommend a good independent shop over a franchise any day of the week.
