Recently moved to Round Rock and am in need of recommendations for services in a few areas. We are in the 1431/Sam Bass Rd area. Any input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pediatrician: I like a Dr. who will give us the time of day and listen to my concerns as a parent. Also, hoping to find someone that doesn't have a 6-8 week wait for new patient as our son is due for a well check soon.

Veteranarian: Good, compassionate and reasonably priced.

Hairdresser: Need someone who does good color and gives a great cut that lasts several weeks (for shorter hair), but I don't want to pay through the nose . Looking for a good value.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions/recommendations.

Regarding the doctor, Dr. Chen at ARC is really good. he listens and evens calls to check on the kids the next day sometimes to make sure everything is going well.

The Vet at premiere Pet hospital at 1431 between Sam Bass and and Parmer is very good.

Koy Animal Hospital in Georgetown (just up the road) has taken care of all of our smaller four-legged critters for over a decade now. Very compassionate and concerned about the animals.

Jacque Liendo at Jacques Beauty Salon, also in Georgetown, has done my hair for lo these many years after I searched all over for someone who could do decent color. My hair is long, but she has quite a few clients with short hair.

DW has very short hair and likes the folks at Salon Ciao Bella on IH-35, south of 620(next to Academy Sports).

I highly recommend purchasing an 'Entertainment' Coupon Book and taking advantage of the discounts to familiarize yourself with different establishments while saving $$$ . We just got the new edition and will recoup the cost in two visits to 'The Wash Tub' for car washes. Plenty of BOGO restaurant coupons for places in G-town, RR and Cedar Park(as well as other areas if you are up for a road trip).

Also, the Community Impact newspaper will have local happenings along with coupons for area merchants. You can check them out on line or pick up a hard copy(monthly, I believe).

We use Avery Ranch Animal Hospital(Dr. Skupin) for our Scottie; but, I've heard only good things about Premier on 1431(more convenient for you). Neither place is 'cheap'; but, Dr. Skupin helped our Katie-girl get past liver cancer this year.

Welcome! If you're like us, you'll find the traffic WEST on 1431 to be less hectic than the area closer to IH-35, say from 1431 down toward the 45 toll road. We still do most of our shopping/eating without dealing with the interchanges around the Interstate(not a big deal, but the Sam Bass/IH-35/620 area is a 'fire drill', IMO).

Just for another pediatrician suggestion - we use Treehouse just west of RRMC on 620 (Treehouse Pediatrics, Round Rock, Texas)... Dr. Chang specifically though the wife interacts with most of them at the hospital and would be comfortable using any of them. I've seen others on here recommend them as well so it's not just us who likes them very well.

And another salon recommendation...Mandi Lange at Courtyard Salons, at Hester's Crossing and I-35. Her number is 512-341-4106. She does great cuts and color at a very reasonable price, and she's very accessible from your location (we live in Walsh Trails on Brushy Creek Road, between Sam Bass and Parmer). I've used her for years and actually several people from city-data have gone to her now! Tell her Celeste sent you!

Don't have kids, so no help here on pediatrician. And our dog is under oncology care so he pretty much only sees a specialist...but if you ever need a veterinary specialist in internal medicine, oncology, or surgery, OR an emergency vet, definitely go to Heart of Texas Veterinary at 115 East Old Settlers Blvd (3406, east of I-35) 512-744-4644 Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center. They are unbelievable!

Welcome to the neighborhood!

I second Premier Animal Hospital and recommend their boarding services as well. Also, Treehouse Peds is very good and we always get in when my son is sick and needs to see a doc. Trashy Roots Salon is good and very resonably priced.
