Thanks Jenny. Do apt complexes usually have scorpion problems?

I remember reading a post from someone on here stating that a scorpion stung him twice, once on the leg and once on the throat during the night. I will be afraid to go to sleep once I move down there

People make too big of a deal about these. We have seen 3 or 4 in the 7 years we have been in the house and I think all but one were in the first year after construction.

I've lived down here since 1999 and have yet to see a scorpion.

But I've had co-workers move into brand, spanking new apartment/condo complexes (along 620, west of 183) who initially had scorpion issues... but it resolved itself over about 9-months as the complex/landscaping/traffic got settled in and drove the suckers off. (I DETEST buggy critters of ALL kinds!)

If you've got your own home/yard and the former owners can't PROVE they've had exterminator service, I suggest you get one for the first year you're here; it should run $50-$100/quarter and it's worth every penny. I did that when I first moved in and gave it up after after the first year and haven't had any buggies, except for the occasional fire ant mound which I treat (w/ a cup of the fire ant granules poured on & watered in... nothing lives through that much pesticide... LOL!) myself.

Buggies are much less prevalent when we get a good freeze for a couple of days ("winter" they call it here... LOL!) to kill off the ickies.

TX Griff
